Guardiantus AV
Download

Get Guardiantus AV.

Version 1.1.0 · MIT licensed · Windows, macOS and Linux.

Detects your platform automatically — every build below works too.

Desktop app

Double-click to run. Starts the dashboard and opens your browser — nothing else to configure.

On an Intel Mac? There's no prebuilt binary for it — use pip install below instead, which works identically.

These builds are not code-signed. A paid signing certificate costs money the project doesn't spend on marketing either. Windows SmartScreen and macOS Gatekeeper will both warn on first launch — expected, not a sign anything is wrong:

Windows: "Windows protected your PC"

Unzip the archive, then click More infoRun anyway on guardiantus.exe. The binary ships inside a zip because a bare, unsigned antivirus .exe is what browsers and scanners flag hardest.

macOS: "cannot be opened"

Right-click the app → OpenOpen again in the dialog. Or clear the quarantine flag yourself: xattr -d com.apple.quarantine guardiantus

Don't want that warning at all? pip install below runs the same code with no signing involved, because there's no separate binary to distrust.

Install with pip

The primary install path. Same engine, plus the CLI and scriptability.

Recommended

pip, with extras

Adds event-driven real-time protection and native YARA.

pip install "guardiantus-av[full] @ git+https://github.com/aquaxs1/Guardiantus-AV.git"

pip, minimal

Standard library only. Everything still works.

pip install "guardiantus-av @ git+https://github.com/aquaxs1/Guardiantus-AV.git"

From a clone

Best if you want to read or change the code.

git clone https://github.com/aquaxs1/Guardiantus-AV.git
cd Guardiantus-AV
pip install -e ".[full]"

Verify a download

Every release includes a checksum file signed by nothing but arithmetic — check it yourself.

curl -LO https://github.com/aquaxs1/Guardiantus-AV/releases/latest/download/SHA256SUMS.txt
sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS.txt --ignore-missing

Run without installing

Straight from a clone, no install step at all.

python -m guardiantus status
python -m guardiantus quick
python -m guardiantus dashboard

Optional extras

Neither is required. Both make it faster.

PackageWhat it adds
watchdogInstant, event-driven real-time protection instead of polling
